Audience research Feedback

 The questions I asked where:

Would you describe yourself as a passive consumer or an active consumer?
Most of the said they were active consumers. With the help of web.2.0 the audience can now not only listen to music, but use it to their advantage. For example YouTube allows people to leave comments.Fans are also able to make their own versions and remixes to a song and upload it for the world. This means they are 'Prosumers'.Also some people mentioned that they attend gigs and concerts this suggests that they are actively involved in the artists rather than just downloading music and listening to it passively.

The second question I asked was how do you consume music?
Most said YouTube and downloading from illegal sites. This is because YouTube is easily accessible and free. Other sites include souncloud, and vevo.

I then asked what interests them more in a song.
Most people said the lyrics is the most important part of a song. However some said the music video itself was important.

Do you feel you need someone to connect with within the media who and why? This was an interesting response as most said they had no connections with the artists.

I went on to ask what they would expect to see in a Kelly Rowland music video.
This helped me in planning my music video. The responses I got were emotional, dance, calm, focused on her and somewhat exploring her sexuality.

When a new song is released what grabs your attention most?
The responses i got back were the music video and other forms of advertisement such as posters.

Most of the audience said rnb has influenced them in one way or the other. It has influenced the way they dress especially male r&b listeners.
