What is a digipack?
first created by Mead Westvaco, since then it has been widely used.
A digipack is deluxe version of an album in form of a booklet which contains 4,6 or 8 pages or sides in it.
Digipaks are different from albums as they contain additional information about the artists and never before seen promotional photos.
Some artists may customise their digipak's further by adding personal things such as speeches.
Digipaks are mainly for real fans of the artist however
digipaks are used to promote artists as photos and unseen footage may be included selling the artists.
Digipaks have become more and more popular as its a way of artists and record labels making more money. It can also help combat piracy as those who illegally download the music wont receive the extra's unlike if they were to buy it.
The front of the digipak's represent the genre of the CD for example.
This digipak has features of a pop or R&B genre
